Michael J. Ryce Jr.

Michael Joseph Ryce Jr., 79, of New Stanton, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born on June 21, 1946, in North Braddock, he was the son of the late Michael Joseph and Mary (Handoga) Ryce Sr.

Michael was a longtime member of Word of Life Church in Greensburg. He found joy in riding his Harley-Davidson, trout fishing, and admiring classic cars. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, he cherished nothing more than spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Schantz and Mary Mence, and his late wife, Karen Ryce. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Kathy (Curry-Houser) Ryce; his son, Jeremy Varhola of Greensburg; daughters, Amanda (Justin) Hoeppner of Woodburn, Indiana, and Brittany (Brian) Cremeens of Trafford; his bonus children, Samantha, Dale, Kerri, and Megan; and many nieces and nephews. He was a proud grandfather to Justine, Janelle, Julia, Jade, Luke, Faith, Audrina, and Callie, and a great-grandfather to Andrew, Grayson, and Sawyer, all of whom he loved deeply.
