July 16, 1959— March 6, 2026
Indianapolis, IN
Michael J. Moreno Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026. His calm demeanor, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mike was born in Indianapolis on July 16, 1959, to Felix and Mary Elizabeth (Smoot) Moreno. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School, where he played baseball in local leagues and was scouted by the Indianapolis Indians. Instead of pursuing a professional career, he chose to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 1st Airborne Division. After his military service, he earned a technical degree in welding and began a long career at an aluminum extruding plant. He advanced to become one of Alexandria Industries’ top supervisors, dedicating more than 35 years to the company until his sudden passing.
In his free time, Mike found joy in riding his Harley Davidson across the open road, cherishing the freedom and peace it brought him. He was also a devoted fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mario Moreno, his brother Rex Wilkins, and his brother-in-law Tony Gregg. Mike is survived by his children Cenisa Nicole Wagner (Stephen), Michael J. Moreno Jr. (Stephanie), Mark Moreno, Jordan Moore, and Cameron Moreno (Ressa); his siblings Kimberly Gregg, Kerry Kaelin (Jessica), Kory Kaelin (Mara), Kara Kenworthy (Scott), and Karla West (Zach); his grandchildren Brittney Newcomb, Lexus Williams, Stephen Wagner, Victoria Wagner, Dakota Moreno, Brianna Miller, and Marcella Moreno; and 11 great-grandchildren.
