Michael J. LaBombard, Sr., 72, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 6, 1953, in Niskayuna, Michael was the son of the late Eli W. LaBombard and Irene D. Buckley LaBombard. A 1971 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Marie Burgess of Schenectady, on July 15, 1972. Their loving marriage lasted 53 years.
Michael worked for 35 years as a duplication supervisor at General Electric and the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady. He took pride in his career and the lasting friendships it brought him. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, visiting casinos, and playing cards. After retiring, he discovered a passion for travel, especially cruises, which created many treasured memories. Above all, he cherished his family and made every effort to attend his grandchildren’s concerts and special events.
In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his siblings, Eli, Richard, Linda, and Thomas LaBombard; his grandparents, Walter and Cora LaBombard and Michael Buckley; brothers-in-law Richard Holton, Donald Santa Barbara, Francis Burgess, and Frank Burgess; and sisters-in-law Lori LaBombard and Corinna Burgess.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Hazel Marie LaBombard of Schenectady; his children, Michael J. LaBombard, Jr. of Schenectady, Wendy (Robin) LaBombard of Johnstown, Justin (Tasha) LaBombard of Middleburgh, and Nicole Nettleford of New York, New York; and his six cherished grandchildren, Renai, Chloe, Melanie, Justin Jr., Peyton, and Paige. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Santa Barbara of Ballston Spa; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Tatsey of Rhode Island and Frederick Burgess of Pennsylvania; four sisters-in-law, Crystal LaBombard of Corinth, Maryanne Holton of Schenectady, Dawn (James) Doulin of Henderson, Nevada, and Vicky (Jack) Brandow of Schenectady; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.
