Passed March 9, 2026
Bowling Green, OH
Michael J. Konczal, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 15, 1938, to Michael and Martha (Liberkowski) Konczal, he grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and determination that would define his life.
Michael shared 65 years of marriage with the love of his life, Carol (Rosinski) Konczal. Their 65th wedding anniversary in June 2025 was a milestone he planned with care and devotion, reflecting the depth of his love for Carol and the life they built together. A University of Dayton graduate, he enjoyed a long and successful career as a mechanical engineer and businessman. He worked for Dohler-Jarvis and Metallurgical Products in Toledo before purchasing the latter and relocating it to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He later served as President of Polymet Alloys and National Sales Manager for SKW, Inc. In the later years of his career, he and his son James co-founded ASK Metallurgical, where his dedication to hard work and innovation continued.
Beyond his professional life, Michael found joy in tending to his beautiful countryside property and spending time outdoors. An avid golfer, he was proud of his four holes-in-one. A lifelong Notre Dame football fan, he carried on a family tradition begun by his father and passed down to his son and grandsons. Above all, he cherished supporting his grandchildren, faithfully attending their theater performances and sporting events. Even in his final year, he could be found cheering for his grandson Victor at tennis matches, regardless of cold or stormy weather.
Michael will be remembered for his determination, strong sense of responsibility, and steadfast devotion to family. He faced life’s challenges directly and was always ready to help those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Melvin and Raymond, and sisters Nancy Nawrocki and Geraldine Thebes. He is survived by his loving wife Carol, his son James and daughter-in-law Gina (Renteros) Konczal, and his beloved grandchildren Alex, Stephanie, and Victor.
