Wood Dale, IL
Michael J. Chiodo, 85, of Wood Dale, died peacefully on March 4, 2026.
Born in Chicago on July 27, 1940, to Anthony and Marion (nee Cipperoni) Chiodo, Michael dedicated his professional life to the Chicago Police Department. He began as a patrol officer and advanced through the ranks to vice, detective, sergeant, and lieutenant. He chose early retirement so he could care for his mother, Marion, and later his aunt, Minnie.
Deeply devoted to family, Michael was a steadfast presence in the lives of his nieces and nephews. He gave of himself without hesitation and loved his family with quiet strength and unwavering loyalty. He found joy in simple pleasures, especially watching Chicago Bears and Cubs games, and was a passionate horse racing enthusiast who knew many of the horses by name.
Michael was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Vito Scopa, his sister-in-law, Sharon Chiodo, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Marion, his siblings, Anthony (Barbara) Chiodo Jr., Marie Scopa, and Louis Chiodo, and his aunt, Minnie Cipperoni.
