Michael Edward MurrayElyMichael Edward Murray, 61, of Ely, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at Brosh Chapel. The family wishes everyone to dress in green or St. Patrick's Day attire in support of Mike.Michael was born on September 29, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William "Bill" and Elizabeth "Betty" (Judge) Murray. He graduated from Cedar Rapids LaSalle. Mike worked at Bishops, where he met Kathy, and they were married in May of 1987. They welcomed their sons Nick in 1989, and Grant in 1993. Mike entered banking, working at Merchants National Bank and Teamsters Credit Union. Later he was employed at Herman M. Brown before moving to McLeod Communications. His love for computers prompted him to start his own company, Melrose CPU. He enjoyed every opportunity to meet new people and help his customers navigate ever-changing technology. At an early age he developed the love of riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles, which continued throughout the years. Mike also enjoyed camping, traveling, cooking, and most of all spending time with his family, especially being a proud grandpa to Jack.Mike is survived by his loving wife Kathy; his sons Nick (Jesse) Murray and Grant Murray; his grandson Jack; his mother Betty Murray; his siblings Scott Murray and Shawn (Ray) Sukalski; his nieces and nephews Brandon (Erin), Kristin (Dustin), Tyler, Samantha, Alyson and Teagan; his father-in-law Vernie Yarbrough; his brother-in-law Tom (Mary) Yarbrough; his sister-in-law Julie (Eric) Appleget; many great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as his loyal dog Finley.He was preceded in death by his father Bill Murray and his mother-in-law Audrey Yarbrough.Memorials may be directed to the family.Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.broshchapel.com.
