Michael D. Veslany
Meadville, PA
Michael D. Veslany, aged 82, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, after a lingering illness. Born on October 16, 1943, in Munhall, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Michael Edward and Mary Ann (Duda) Veslany. A proud product of his blue-collar upbringing, he earned a B.A. in Labor Management Relations from Penn State University in 1965 and devoted his entire career to the American glass industry. He began as a rotating shift Shipping Supervisor at Anchor Hocking’s Lancaster, Ohio facility and retired in 2003 as Customer Service Director at PPG’s Meadville plant.
In the summer of 1961, Michael met the love of his life, Janice (Keating) Veslany, at a dance in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. He always called her “my dream girl.” They married in June 1964 at Resurrection Church in Pittsburgh and shared more than 61 years of devoted marriage. Together they enjoyed extensive travel, daily morning coffee conversations in their Meadville home of 50 years, and above all, the company of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Michael’s interests included writing, genealogy, politics, popular music, and cheering for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions. He served for many years on the Meadville Medical Center Corporation Board of Directors and the Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week program. Yet nothing meant more to him than his family.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; their children, Deborah (Todd) Forbes of Plainfield, New Jersey, Michael (Laura) Veslany of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Kathleen (David) Veslany of Oxford, Ohio; grandchildren Ashley (Andrew), Sarah, Samantha (Shon), Michael, Adam, Emily, Eleanor, and Vivian; and great-grandchildren Brandon, Evelyn, Jax, and Lorelai. His lessons of love, loyalty, and value, along with countless warm memories, will continue to live on in all who knew him.
