Michael Charles McTamney

Michael Charles McTamney Sr., 66, of Hamilton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2026. Born on June 25, 1959, in Trenton, New Jersey, Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He lived with a deep love for family, a passion for sports, and an unwavering belief that everything would always work out.

Mike attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick. He and his high school sweetheart, Nancy, spent many cherished years in Toms River, New Jersey, raising their three children, Kim, Mike Jr., and Becky, before moving to Hamilton. He made his family his top priority, finding greatest joy in the laughter and moments they shared together. He was a proud and loving Pop to his grandchildren, Johnny and Jaiden Seals, Taylor and Samantha McTamney, and Ben and Eleanor Schaen.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mike followed many teams but held a special place in his heart for football and the Philadelphia Eagles. For more than 15 years, he served as commissioner of the family’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” Fantasy Football League, guiding it with dedication, good humor, and friendly competition. He also coached Toms River Little League when his children were young, positively touching the lives of many young athletes, and gave back to his community as a volunteer EMT with the Pleasant Plains First Aid Squad.

Mike enjoyed a long and successful career at Pep Boys, dedicating more than 35 years to the company and retiring as AVP of Property Management. His leadership, integrity, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth (Beal) McTamney; his brother, Matthew “Matt” McTamney; his mother- and father-in-law, Nancy and Stephen Wayda; his sister-in-law, Holly Fuller; and his brother-in-law, Michael “Scott” Wayda.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy McTamney; his children and their spouses, Kimberly and John Seals Jr., Michael and Christa McTamney, and Rebecca and Andrew Schaen; and his beloved grandchildren, John and Jaiden Seals, Taylor and Samantha McTamney, and Benjamin and Eleanor Schaen. He is also survived by his father, Charles McTamney and wife Pat; his siblings, Mark and Donna McTamney, Martin “Marty” and Dana McTamney, Patrick Mitchell “Mitch” and Barbara McTamney, and Marlene McTamney; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Steven Wayda, Brian Wayda, Robert and Carla Wayda, and Christina and Michael Ogrodnik; his aunt Virginia “Cookie” Perry; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. As he often reminded those around him, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy. Everything is gonna be alright.”
