Michael Anthony Rogalsky, 79, of Middletown, husband of Nancy (O’Neil) Rogalsky, died Thursday, March 12, 2026 at VA Connecticut Healthcare in West Haven.
Born in Middletown to the late Benjamin and Barbara Rogalsky, Mike attended Portland schools before continuing his education at Middlesex Community College and The Computer Processing Institute. A Vietnam War veteran who served in the U.S. Army, he worked as East Coast Manager in the Technical Department at Ames Department Stores, later serving as Lot Manager and Web Designer for Jukonski Truck Sales. He also drove charter buses for several companies and, in retirement, drove for the Middletown Senior Center.
Mike devoted many years to volunteer service, beginning as a First Aid and CPR Instructor for the American Red Cross. He became deeply involved in veterans’ organizations across Connecticut, particularly in coordinating the placement of flags and wreaths at the Connecticut State Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown. A member of numerous veterans’ groups, he served as Commander of the City of Middletown Council of Veterans and the Veterans of the Vietnam War. In 2015 he was named Connecticut State American Legion Adjutant of the Year, and he received the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce William J. Pomfret Veteran Community Service Award. Honored by the Hartford Courant as a Hometown Hero, he served on the American Legion Department of Connecticut Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission and the State Legislation Commission. In 2025 he was inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame.
An avid traveler, Mike scuba dived in the Caribbean, visited the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia, and sailed through the Panama Canal. He was also an excellent cook who took great pleasure in preparing meals for family and friends. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Brenda Blejwas (Mark), and two grandchildren, Sarah Blejwas and CPT Matthew Blejwas.
