Meredith Burnell Pierson

Meredith Burnell Pierson, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 6th 2026. He was born on January 7th 1940, in Farnham, VA.

Meredith lived a life marked by strength, kindness, and dedication to his entire family and those that knew him. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, his generosity, and the way he loved his family. He touched the lives of many family and friends.

Meredith shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Sue-Anne Pierson for 65 years. He was a devoted father to his three children: Debbie Pierson Gilbert, who preceded him in death in February, 2018 (Ian and Emily), Kathy Pierson Michanco (Paige and Ryan), and Chris Pierson (Amy and Archer), his brother Paul Pierson,(Sandy Pierson) who preceded him in death in 2025, Lee Pierson, and his brother William Shelley (Nancy). Meredith’s family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in the life and memories he built with them together. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Paige, Ryan, Ian, Emily and Archer, and his two great-grandchildren, Shiloh and Lydia.

Meredith’s favorite place was his river home in Tappahannock, VA, where he loved sitting and looking out over the water and his beautiful gardens. It brought him great joy to spend time there surrounded by family and friends. He loved to share stories from the past and creating memories that will live on for generations.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock. Interment will follow at Essex Cemetery.
