Melvin E. Ridenour

Melvin E. Ridenour, age 78, of Plainfield, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 13, 2026. Born on May 3, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Omer B. Ridenour and Goldia (Wilson) Ridenour, Melvin honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later worked as a machinist while raising a family alongside his wife, Sandra (Dillow) Ridenour, who survives him.

Melvin found great joy in the outdoors and in sports. He loved fishing and hunting, and he was an avid fan of NASCAR and Indiana University athletics. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde “Buck” Ridenour and Moe Ridenour.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Ridenour; son, Melvin “Mel” (Kim) Ridenour; daughter, Tina (Shane) Ridenour-McCloud; brother, Danny Ridenour; sister, Mary Crawford; six grandchildren, Derek (Jamie) Ridenour, Justin Ridenour, Meaghan (Ross) Ridenour, Haley Ridenour, Linsey (Isiah) McCloud, and Spencer McCloud; and two great-grandchildren, Emersyn Ridenour and Kalysta Hart. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
