Altus, OK

Melvin Charles Bennett, Jr. was born on September 2, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Melvin Charles and Shirley Louise (Moss) Bennett. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Tinker Air Force Base, where his younger brother, Mike, was born. He carried a lifelong passion for anything on wheels, finding joy in drag racing, four-wheeling, and riding his motorcycle. He looked forward each year to traveling to Sturgis for the annual motorcycle rally. He also enjoyed hunting, bowling, and sharing these interests with his close friends.

Melvin passed away on the morning of Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home in Altus. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin; his stepfather, Herb Brannan; and his daughter-in-law, Cassandra Bennett. He is survived by his beloved mother, Shirley Brannan; his brother, Mike Bennett and wife, Lisa; his sons, Jason Bennett and wife, Renee, Josh Bennett and wife, Stephanie, and Jeremy Sadler and wife, Maria; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
