Melva Roberts

Melva Alisia Johnson Roberts was born on July 20, 1955, in West Point, Georgia, to the late Dorise Reed and Bettye Graham. She passed away on February 18, 2026, at her home in West Point, surrounded by her loving family. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and remained faithful throughout her life.

A proud graduate of West Point High School Class of 1973, Melva participated in the marching band during her school years. She later studied at the Culinary Institute of Virginia and became a chef. Melva found great joy in dancing, singing, modeling, and expressing her personal style through fashion, yet cooking remained her true passion. Above all, she cherished her family and held them in the deepest love and affection.

Melva was preceded in death by her parents, step-father W.C. Johnson Sr., brothers Terrell Johnson and Melvin Tucker, sisters Jerolyn Johnson and Vicky Potts, and sister-in-law Satunja “Toot” Johnson. She is survived by her husband, John L. Roberts of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her daughter, Jelaine Roberts of West Point, Georgia; her sons, Dorise Deuntae Roberts of Boston, Massachusetts, and Lewis Roberts and Justin Roberts of West Point; her sister, Zinn Johnson of West Point; her brothers, Reginald, Julius, William, Vance, and Scottie Davidson, all of West Point; five grandchildren, Deonbreye Roberts-Huguley, Daquayrius Roberts-Huguley, Caltavious Roberts, Tybious Roberts, and Jakari Murphy; twelve great-grandchildren; special sister Pamela Johnson Chambers; special friend Kenneth “Hard Rock” Jackson; and a host of other family members and friends who held her dear.
