Melody Rose Tankersley, age 62, of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. Born on January 13, 1964, in Crossett to William and Helen Barrett, she lived a life rooted in faith and family.
A devoted Christian of the Missionary Baptist faith, Melody found her greatest joy in the simple moments spent with loved ones. She possessed a creative spirit and took pleasure in crocheting and sewing, crafting handmade gifts that reflected her deep affection for those around her. In quieter times, she enjoyed relaxing with her favorite British murder mysteries on television.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Barrett, and her beloved niece, Amanda White.
Melody is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Anthony Tankersley; her son, Jacob E. Tankersley and wife Sharon of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; and her cherished grandchildren, Grant L. E. Tankersley (Paris), Matthew Tankersley, and Joshua Tankersley, all of Arkadelphia. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Linda Voight of Hamburg, Tina White and husband Barney of Crossett, Diane Barrett of Crossett, Patsy Price and husband Dennis of Hot Springs, and Terica Barrett and Kevin Kilcrease of Crossett, as well as her brother James W. Barrett and wife Teresa of Crossett, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her devotion to family, and the quiet kindness she offered to all who knew her.
