Melissa McMillan

December 20, 1958 March 4, 2026

West Jordan, UT

Melissa McMillan, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on December 20, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she grew up and met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Scott McMillan.

Melissa spent twenty years living in Nevada, where she built lifelong friendships and created a home that quickly became the gathering place for everyone. She loved hosting parties and bringing people together, and during the summer months you could almost always find her relaxing by the pool with a cold drink and a good book in hand.

Melissa had a deep love for the outdoors and for life’s adventures. She enjoyed camping, fishing, motocross, traveling, and creating meaningful traditions with the people she loved most. Even in her final days, her adventurous spirit remained strong, just days before her passing she joked that she wished a famous Supercross racer would come sit with her (shout out Ken Roczen).

To know Melissa was truly to love her. She opened her heart and her home to anyone who needed it. Even during the most difficult moments of her illness, she faced her diagnosis with incredible strength and bravery while continuing to put others before herself.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. Melissa is survived by her children, Sage Linnell (Tyson Linnell) and Kallie Christensen (Gage Christensen); and her beloved grandchildren, Keian and Kayce Linnell. She is also survived by her mother, Jackie Curt; her father-in-law, Dale McMillan (Janet McMillan); and her siblings, Dee Gainer, Woody Lawhon (Paula Lawhon), Danell Parsons (Jay Parsons), Randy Curt, Joe Curt (Trina Curt), and Robin Bryant, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Scott McMillan; her father, Lloyd Lawhon; her stepfather, Ray Curt; her mother-in-law, Darlene McMillan; and her siblings, Mike and Marcie McMillan.

Melissa will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, generosity, and the joy she brought to every gathering will live on in the memories of the many lives she touched.

A viewing and open house will be held on Friday, March 20th, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, beginning at 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside prayer at 3:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 PM at The View; 11649 South 4000 West, South Jordan, Utah, where family and friends are invited to gather for food, cold drinks, and shared memories. A memory wall will be available, and guests are encouraged to bring photographs or mementos they would like to share.
