Melissa Ann Garza, 44, of Runge, Texas, passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio on March 9, 2026. Born in San Antonio on August 28, 1981, to Rosalinda Gonzales and Juan Garza, she spent most of her life in Runge surrounded by family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her, leaving a lasting impression through her laughter and unwavering love.
Above all, Melissa cherished her role as a mother to her son, Daniel Ramirez III, and as a grandmother to Xadrian Nathaniel Ramirez and Evalynn Rose Ramirez. She was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend who loved deeply and formed special bonds with each person in her life.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalinda Gonzales; father, Juan Garza; grandfather, Israel Gonzales Sr.; uncle, Israel Gonzales Jr.; and great-grandparents, Sylvestre and Consuelo Reyes.
Melissa is survived by her son, Daniel Ramirez III of Runge; grandchildren, Xadrian Nathaniel Ramirez and Evalynn Rose Ramirez of Runge; longtime companion, Miguel Lopez of Kenedy; grandmother, Narcedalia Reyes of Runge; stepfather, John Garza of Kenedy; aunts, Martina Gonzales and Adrianna (Clemente) Rodriguez of San Antonio; uncles, Adam (Beatrice) Gonzales and Alonzo Gonzales of Runge; siblings, John Markham, Arthur Markham, Mikey Markham, and Jana Hernandez of North Carolina, Oscar Hinojosa of Victoria, and Rosemary (Otto) Oroxon and Sierra Garza of Kenedy; special cousins, Tommie-Lorraine (Jason) Stidham of Missouri, Tammie (Abdoulaye) Cisse, Alma Valdez, and Robert Valdez Jr. of Runge and San Antonio; and her best friend since childhood, Mickey (Ian) Nofchissey of San Antonio. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry her mighty spirit and the love she gave so freely.
