Melinda Irene McClendon

Melinda I. McClendon passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Melinda had always been a little on the quiet side but that never stopped her from making lots of friends and memories along the way. She was very big into family and loved very much, spoiling her grandkids. She loved to go camping with her family and having sleepovers with her grandkids. She liked building forts, having movie nights and doing anything her grandbabies wanted.

Melinda and her husband Justin joined Calvery Baptist Church six years ago and have grown to love it more each week. They have grown very strong in their faith and have always been encouraging to many others.

Melinda worked at McKee Foods for 30 years and during that time, made lots of friendships.

Most importantly, Melinda was a devoted wife and mother. In 1977 Melinda and Justin were married and spent the next 48 years creating and loving a big rowdy family. Melinda loved to tease her husband Justin and say that he always added more to his stories each time to which he would respond, “I’m just making sure you were listening.”

Melinda and her daughter Aleshia were the best of friends. They loved to spend days together shopping or at the lake. Even when apart, they called each other every day, they loved to talk about anything and everything. They loved to host family Christmas’ together and give their family much love and joy. Melinda and her son JD loved to spend time together at the lake. They loved to fish and camp together.

Melinda loved deeply her whole life and was grateful for every moment spent with family.

Melinda is survived by her husband, Justin McClendon of Watts, OK; son, JD McClendon and wife Samantha of Westville, OK; daughter, Aleshia Long and husband Eric of Jay, OK; 3 sisters, Diane Bishop and husband Earl, Rhonda Buchanan both of Colcord, OK and Lora Wright and husband of Decatur, AR. 2 brothers, Leroy Pike and wife Tabby of Jenks, OK and Rick Pike and wife Diana of Colcord, OK; her mother Irene Smith and husband Bob of Grove, OK.; 9 grandchildren; Tyler McClendon and wife Alyssa of Oklahoma City, OK, Nicholas Hodge of Jay, OK, Katelyn McClendon of Tulsa, OK, Elizabeth White and husband Chase of Kansas, OK, Casey Long and wife Kaylee of Jay, OK, Baylee Lewis and husband Trystan of Jay, OK, Bryce Long and wife Andria of Vinita, OK, Logan Robrahn and wife Jaycee of Kansas, OK and Jeffree Robrahn of Westville, OK. As well as 9 great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Sissy.

Melinda was preceded in death by her father Artie Pike and his wife Norma Jean of Hope, AR.
