Raised in the close-knit community of his hometown, he attended local schools before following the American Dream to the United States at the age of twenty-one.

For more than five decades, Maximo worked as an autobody specialist, bringing attention to detail and dedication to his craft, while also devoting himself to warehouse work to provide for his family. Deeply rooted in the values of family and faith, he found his greatest joy in simple moments—taking his children, Jorge Alberto, Araceli, and Maritza, to the park and attending church together. As a devout Catholic, his faith guided his life and relationships.

Maximo took special delight in his grandchildren, sharing with them his love of baseball while watching games on television with a cold beer in hand. He remained close to his sister, Virginia Elizarraraz, and brothers, Jose Luis and Nicolas Gonzalez, creating countless moments of laughter and generosity. Known for his selfless spirit, warm nature, and quick humor, Maximo had a gift for making others smile.
