Mavis Murphy Beck

Mavis Murphy Beck, age 83, of Luthersville, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at her home.

Born on September 5, 1942, in Meriwether County, she was the daughter of the late James Jackson Murphy and Beatrice Rowe Murphy. After living in Michigan for nearly forty years, where she was a member of Shields Baptist Church and worked as a hospital pharmacy technician, Mavis returned to Meriwether County in 1999. She was a talented seamstress and a gifted pianist who found her greatest joy in caring for her family as a loving mother.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Ann Raines of Luthersville; her son, William M. “Bill” Beck and his wife Tina of Warren, Michigan; grandchildren Brandon Miller and his wife Kayla, Billy Beck, Crystal Beck, and Heather Butler; ten great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Arnold Murphy and Larry Murphy, both of Luthersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. “Bill” Beck, and her son, Timothy James Beck.
