Singpiel, age 85, of Cloquet, MN, died peacefully Tuesday, March 3, 2026, surrounded by family at Interfaith Care Center in Carlton, MN.She was born October 18, 1940, in Esko, the daughter of Andrew and Hulda "Mary" (Helberg) Pykkonen. She was raised on her beloved family farm with her four siblings and graduated from Esko High School.Mavis was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Singpiel on December 19, 1964. They settled in Cloquet, where they raised their two sons, Curt and Jesse (Scott). She was employed as a caretaker for many years, keeping house and visiting with her ladies.Mavis loved tending to the flowers in her yard and growing pea pods. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, painting ceramics with friends, and playing cards, especially with her grandsons.Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Dick Singpiel; son, Curt Singpiel; sisters, Helen Koski and Milly Virgin; and brother, Donny Pykkonen.She is survived by her son, Jesse (Scott); daughter-in-law, Leigh Singpiel; grandchildren, Cade, Blake, and Dane Singpiel; sister, Edna McKeever; and numerous nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM memorial service at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Esko, followed by a light lunch.
