September 25, 1974— March 13, 2026
Enfield, CT
Maurice “Moe” Henri LaRosa, 51, of Enfield, passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2026, at his home. Born in Rockville, Connecticut, on September 25, 1974, he was the son of the late Robert Alexander LaRosa, Sr. and Susan Sharon LaRosa. Raised in East Hartford and Ashford, he graduated from Windham Technical High School with the Class of 1994.
Moe moved to Enfield after high school and became a volunteer firefighter with the Enfield Fire Department. He later trained and served as an Emergency Medical Technician, devoting many years to helping his community. He worked for TruGreen as a lawn care technician and, for more than fifteen years, as a security guard at Duncaster Retirement Community in Bloomfield. In recent years he found great joy assisting his daughter and son-in-law with their reptile education business, The Reptile Nook. As one of their lead educators, he visited schools, libraries, retirement centers, birthday parties, and other events, teaching children about snakes and lizards.
A longtime resident of Enfield, Moe was deeply involved in local civic life. He served for many years on the Enfield Republican Town Committee, including several terms as chairman, and was a member of the Enfield Zoning Board of Appeals. A devout Christian, he was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church in Enfield, where he served as associate pastor. His faith guided him daily, especially in the way he loved and taught his daughters.
Above all, Moe will be remembered as a devoted and attentive father who cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family. They hold dear the memories of fishing trips, karaoke sessions, and lively trivia nights. He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Marie Decoteau and her husband Zachary of Agawam, Massachusetts, and Rachel Ann LaRosa of Enfield; their mother, Dawn (Dickman) LaRosa of Vernon; his granddaughter, Abigail Dolores Decoteau, born just two months ago; his sister, Stacy Zimmerman of Conway, South Carolina; his brothers, Robert Alexander LaRosa II and his wife Anne of Courtland, Virginia, Marc LaRosa of Richlands, South Carolina, Nathan LaRosa of Richlands, South Carolina, and Matthew LaRosa of Richlands, North Carolina; six nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Roberta J. LaRosa.
