Maureen Loukas ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels - Belmont on Mar. 17, 2026.Maureen Loukas (Aherne) of Belmont, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, mere weeks shy of her 83rd birthday.Maureen was born in 1943 in Newton, Massachusetts to Prof. Raymond J. and Mary L. (Milmore) Aherne. A graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy, Maureen went on to receive a B.A. from Boston College and an M.A. from Boston University. She taught French language at Burlington High School where she met fellow teacher and the love of her life the late Victor N. Loukas. The granddaughter of former Watertown Chief of Police John F. Milmore, Maureen raised her family in Watertown where she dedicated years to improving the public school system as a member and later Chairperson of the Watertown School Committee. Maureen brought that compassion to her work at Athenahealth and the friendships across the world that she cultivated and cherished.Maureen, a pancreatic cancer survivor, was a devoted mother to Victor, Jr. of Belmont, Elisabeth and her husband Mark of Watertown, and Michael of San Francisco. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Brittani, Mikaela, Gianna, Paris, and London. She was a cherished great grandmother to Palmer, Charley, and Vincent. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her strength and devotion to her family.Visiting hours will be held on March, Thursday 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brasco & Sons Funeral Home, 325 Trapelo Road, Belmont, Massachusetts. A funeral service will take place on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral, 523 East Broadway, South Boston, Massachusetts with a visiting hour at 10:00 a.m. immediately preceding the service. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery located at 95 Forest Hills Ave. Boston, MA. 02130.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: Mass General Hospital Andrew L. Warshaw, MD. Institute for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Maureen and Victor N. Loukas Memorial Scholarship Fund, 28 Marshall Street, Watertown, MA 02472, or a charity of your choice."
