Maureen Johnston ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by West Haven Funeral Home - West Haven on Mar. 16, 2026.On Sunday March 15, 2026, Maureen Johnston was peacefully called to heaven to be with her departed family, including her husband Michael and partner Richard Lambert. Born in Taunton, MA, she was the only child of the late Joseph and Stella Maschio.A graduate of Trusdale Nursing School, Maureen worked in many locations throughout her nursing career of over 50 years. While serving in the Air Force, Maureen met her husband Michael, also serving in the Air Force. They married in 1969. Upon their mutual discharge from the service, Maureen and Mike moved to Minnesota where they started their family, son Joe and daughter Christine. The family moved to Connecticut, settling in West Haven due to Mike's new job at the Veterans Hospital.She was an avid golfer until Lewy Body Dementia depleted her strength. Maureen found great joy in watching all sorts of sports, including UConn women's basketball, Bruins hockey, Michigan State basketball, and of course her favorite sport, golf. Never one to refuse an adventure, she enjoyed trips to the casino, and travel, especially cruising. Maureen is survived by her son Joe (Keri), daughter Christine (Jordan), 3 grandchildren Allie (Tyler), Tim (Alyssa), Tyler, and 5 great grandchildren Rina, Charley, Austen, Ashlynn, and Madison. In addition to her parents, husband, and partner, she is predeceased by 5+ furbabies. Our family would like to express heartfelt thanks to her aid Tina for the wonderful care she gave to our mom.Visitation will take place on Thursday March 19 from 5 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church on Friday March 20, at 11 o'clock. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
