Maureen Erb ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes - Willoughby on Mar. 9, 2026.M. Maureen Erb (née Ziherl), 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, surrounded by the love of her family at Harbor Place in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.Born on May 5, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Tomsic) Ziherl. She spent many years in Mayfield Heights, where she lovingly raised her children and built the kind of lasting friendships that truly became extended family. In later years, she moved to her sunny oasis in Port Saint Lucie, where she enjoyed the warmth, the slower pace of life, and the simple joys each day brought.Maureen graduated from Mayfield High School in 1959 and later attended Ohio University. Before her health began to decline, she always looked forward to attending class reunions, where she could reconnect with friends and relive fond memories of earlier days. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Maureen loved crocheting, working crossword puzzles, and collecting Beanie Babies. She enjoyed going out for a "bite to eat," sharing stories and laughter with family and friends, and taking memorable cruises with her beloved brother Bud and sister-in-law Jo-ell. Anyone who knew Maureen also knew that the hours between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. were reserved-no phone calls-because that was her special time for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. These small routines brought her comfort and joy.More than anything, Maureen treasured time spent with her family. She loved deeply and took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, gentle spirit, quick wit, and contagious laugh made her someone people naturally gravitated toward. She had a quiet kindness and compassion that touched the lives of many, and she leaves behind countless memories that will continue to bring smiles to those who loved her. She also shared a special bond with her faithful pet companion, Cracker, who brought her much comfort and companionship.Maureen is survived by her children Kelly Lachina-Layton, Kevin Ross, and Michael Ross. She was a devoted and loving Nana to Louis Farr (Melanie), Alexander Domorasky, Taylor (Shaina) Lachina, Spencer Domorasky, Jaymes Ross, Emily Ross, Allan Ross, and Natalie Ross, and a proud great-grandmother to Connor Reed, Joey Reed, Logan Reed, Myah Yusuf, and Makayla Yusuf. She is also survived by her son-in-law Wade Domorasky, grandson-in-law Deri Yusuf, and sister-in-law Jo-ell Ziherl. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Ross and John "Skip" Erb; her daughters Kimberly Domorasky and Shannon Farr; her son Thomas Ross; her granddaughters Lauren Domorasky and Kristen Yusuf; and her beloved brother, Frank "Bud" Ziherl.Maureen lived her life with love at its center. She will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and the way she made the people around her feel valued and cherished. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the family she loved so dearly and in the many memories they will carry forward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Michael J. Fox Foundation.A celebration of Maureen's life will be held on what would have been her 86th birthday, on May 5, 2027.Details will be announced closer to the date.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
