Maureen Brennan "Beloved sister, aunt, and friend" Maureen Brennan, 84, of Middlebury, formerly of Manhattan, New York City, passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved on Friday, March 13, 2026, in the comfort of her home. Maureen was born in Manhattan, New York City, on October 7, 1941, a daughter of the late John J. Brennan Sr. and Mary (Keaveny) Brennan. Following in the footsteps of her father, Maureen made her career in the banking industry, working for many years as an assistant manager with Citi Bank in Manhattan until her retirement, as well as being a member of the Metropolitan Museum. Maureen spent most of her life in Manhattan, where she built many lasting friendships and enjoyed everything the city had to offer. An avid reader with a remarkable wealth of knowledge, she especially loved watching Jeopardy! and rarely missed an episode. She also enjoyed watching Judge Judy and had a true love for food, often encouraging her sister-in-law to "just order out" after a long day-though secretly she simply loved takeout herself. Seven years ago, Maureen moved to Middlebury to live with her brother, Kevin, and his wife, Simi, where she quickly became a beloved presence in the home. She found great joy in watching her nieces and nephews grow and absolutely adored them, as she never had children of her own. She was especially touched when, during a time of illness, Kevin and Simi welcomed their sixth child and named her Piya Maureen in her honor. Maureen also had a deep love for animals. She dearly missed her beloved late dog, Rex, and adored her brother's dogs. Throughout her life, she was fortunate to travel extensively around the world with her friends, creating many cherished memories along the way. One of the highlights of her weekly routine was spending time with her sister-in-law Simi and her niece Pari. Every Saturday at 3 p.m., the three of them would enjoy a standing tradition of going together to get their hair done-something Maureen always looked forward to. Although Maureen made countless friends throughout her lifetime, she ultimately outlived many of them. Her warmth, humor, and love for her family will always be remembered by those who knew her. Maureen leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother and sister-in-law, Kevin Eugene Brennan and Simi K. Brennan of Middlebury, with whom she shared a home, as well as her beloved nieces Pari May, Piya Maureen, and her nephews who meant the world to her. She was predeceased by her brother, John J. Brennan Jr., and her nephew, Christopher Brennan. Arrangements: All funeral services for Maureen will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with handling Maureen's funeral arrangements.
