Maudie Sharpton ObituaryPublished by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2026.Maudie Frances Sharpton of Oxford, Alabama passed away at her home at the age of 88 surrounded by loved ones.Frances was the eldest of 11 children born to the late James Samuel Curvin and Maggie Jennings Curvin of Cedar Springs.Her life was dedicated to the service of others with her immediate and extended family being her top priority. When her children were young, she took pride in being a homemaker and volunteered to work with youth groups, schools, and church activities. After retirement she was a volunteer for Hospice and received many awards to include volunteer of the year for her compassionate care. During the mid 1980s she wrote a column for the Jacksonville News detailing the happenings in the Cedar Springs community where she knew or was related to almost everyone who lived there.All during her life she was a nature lover who enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, gardening and bird watching which she continued to do as her health declined.Her faith and love for Jesus Christ was a subject she never tired of sharing, and there is no doubt many seeds were planted during her life.She is survived by her Daughter Valarie Stephens(Asa)of Oxford, Daughter-in-Law Arelia Kimbert of Pell City, Grandchildren John Kimbert, Mark Noel(Jamie), Tyler Nobles(Sandy), Brittany Kimbert, Chelsea Stephens, Jordan Kimbert, and Cory Stephens(Chrissy), 14 great grandchildren, 6 siblings and many precious nieces and nephews.Frances was preceded in death by husbands John Kimbert and James Sharpton, her son John Daniel Kimbert, grandchildren April Nicole Kimbert and William Cole Kimbert.A memorial service will be held at Wellington First Baptist Saturday March 14th at 12:00.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
