She lived there with her parents, sisters and brother until she was 14 years old. At that time, her family moved to NY for her father's job.For the first year, they lived in Queens while her parents searched for a new home. Matty's family finally settled in East Norwich where she met her future husband. Shortly after graduating high school, Matty married Eddy Youngs.A few years later Matty and Eddy had their first of 2 sons. Almost 2 years later they had their second son, Daniel. They all lived in East Norwich until they moved to Huntington in 1989. Matty's husband Eddy went to be with Jesus in 2011 and her son Daniel in 2017.Matty has had a variety of jobs in her life. She has worked at Associated (grocery store), LILCO (power company), Syosset Hospital (as a nurse's aide), MM construction and Kenstan Lock Company to just list a few.Church was a big part of Matty's life. Her commitment to her Lord and Savior was genuine and impacted all areas of her life. She has done everything from teaching Sunday School, singing in the Sound Commitments, hosting college and career at home, leading youth group, volunteering at the People Loving People food pantry, going to Zambia on a mission trip to work with orphans, leading a small group, mentoring other women just to highlight a few. People were always welcome to Matty's home.Matty is survived by her son John, sister Niesje, brother Reinier, sister-in-law Lynne Youngs, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Billy Van Nostrand and many nieces and nephews.Visiting will be held at the Shelter Rock Church 178 Cold Spring Road in SyossetThursday March 19th 3-6 p.m.Service 7:00 p.m.Final Visitation 8-9 p.m.Funeral Service Friday Shelter Rock ChurchInterment Memorial Cemetery of St. John's Church Laurel HollowIn lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Youth for Christ Jack Crabtree Next Generation Endowment Fundhttps://liyfc.org/give/To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
