Vincent, a sweet soul, was born on January 6, 1931 in Anniston, Alabama to the parentage of Willie Meadows and Emma Cunningham Meadows. Mattie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life. She was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church in Eastaboga until her health began to fail. Mattie's warm spirit and kindness was a constant source of comfort for family and friends. She was a skilled seamstress and an extraordinary gardener. She could transform a piece of fabric into a work of art and coax a garden to bloom with her green thumb. In 1961, Mattie married the love of her life, William Vincent, Sr., and together they created a home filled with love and laughter for 59 years. This union was blessed with a wonderful son, William Vincent, Jr. On Friday, March 13, 2026, Mattie R. Vincent answered the Master's call and peacefully entered eternal rest in the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vincent, Sr.; her parents, Willie and Emma Meadows; siblings, Molly Sterling, Alice Smith, Betsy Meadows, Martha McLaughlin, Alfonso Meadows, and Willie E. Meadows. Mattie's legacy of love, strength, and perseverance will be carried forward by her son, William Vincent, Jr.; grandchildren, Ebony A. (Na Na) Bekoe, Ashley O. Vincent, and William J. Vincent; and great-grandchildren, Nolan Vincent and Efya Bekoe. She is survived by her sister, Addel Battle; brother-in-law, Edward (Bonnie) Vincent; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. As we reflect on Mattie's incredible 95-year journey, let us remember her not with sorrow but with smiles and joy, celebrating the vibrant life she led and the warmth she brought to all. Rest dear Mattie – you will be deeply missed but never forgotten. S.M. Goodson Funeral Home & Crematory 830 Noble Street Anniston, AL Sheffton M. Goodson 256-237-9771 www.smgoodson.com
