With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mattie Elizabeth Groves of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her children, Theresa Haley and Robert Nelson; her parents, Mary M. Compton and William M. Compton; and her siblings, Joseph, William L., Arthur, Carl, Everett and Mary L. Compton.

She is survived by: her son Leonard Groves, Jr.; her grandchildren, Rynia Hawkins, Seantay Carnes and Jamall Groves; her great grandchildren, Isiah Carnes and Izerha Groves; and her siblings, James Compton, Johnnie Compton and Barbara Simpson (Willie). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Percell & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. (120 Haycraft St, Elizabethtown, KY 42701). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, March 14th 2026 at 3:30 PM at the Elizabethtown City Cemetery (420 E Dixie Ave, Elizabethtown, KY 42701).
