Matthew Scott Young

Matthew Scott Young, 67, of White Cloud, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Born on August 13, 1958, to Herbert and Phyllis Young, Matthew grew up with a strong sense of duty and loyalty that would define his life. He married Roxie West on May 31, 1986, and together they shared 39 devoted years of marriage. He served his country with pride in the United States Army for 20 years before retiring and later working at Parker Hannifin. Matthew found joy in hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and watching hockey, yet nothing mattered more to him than his family. He was an honorable, loyal, loving, big-hearted, and hard-working man whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.

He is survived by his wife, Roxie; his children, Candice Young, Lucinda (Allen) Nelson, Hazel (Mason) Birdsall, Matthew Young II, and Perry (Hannah) Young; grandchildren Eric Jr., Remmington, Elaina, Blake, Layla, Serenity, Katara, Matthew III, and Vada; great-granddaughter Sage; brother Michael Young; sister Martha (Mike) Kerns; adopted son Ryan Hayner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, his son Anthony, granddaughter Kaylee, brother Mark Young, son-in-law Eric Doyle Sr., and sister-in-law Cora.
