Matthew Philip Restivo

Matthew Restivo, age 88, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Matthew built a life grounded in family, faith, and hard work. In 1980, he relocated to Florida, where he continued to dedicate himself to his family and business. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis Restivo, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Matthew enjoyed a long and successful career as a business owner in the construction and remodeling industry. Early in his career, he worked as a cost accountant on the Verrazano Bridge project in New York—an experience that helped shape his professional path.

A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Matthew found his greatest joy in the achievements and milestones of his family. He rarely missed a game, ceremony, or celebration, proudly cheering on his children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Spiritual and community-minded, Matthew was active for many years in the Ascension Church men’s group as well as local Kiwanis clubs, where he built lasting friendships and gave generously of his time.

Matthew is survived by his son, Matthew Restivo, and his daughter, Lara Restivo Gavel. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren—Katy Restivo Lewis, Anna Restivo, MJ Restivo, Thomas Gavel, and Kenna Gavel—and his great-grandchildren Kyla, Kelsi, Kane, Kennedy, and Kannon Lewis.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday March 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Ascension Catholic Church, 7250 N Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33487.
