Matthew Kelly Word

Matt passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, surrounded by love. A proud and loving father, he found his greatest joy in his daughter Amber and in being “Pappy” to his grandchildren, Emerson and Jax. Matt cherished time spent with family and friends, greeting each person with a warm smile and his unforgettable laugh that could light up any room. He loved hunting with his father and created a lifetime of laughter, friendship, and love that touched everyone who knew him.

In his final months, his sister Melissa and her husband Jerry cared for him with extraordinary devotion, opening their home so he could remain in comfort and peace. His brother Mark, sister Maggi, daughter Amber, and many close friends stayed by his side, reminding him constantly of how deeply he was loved.

Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Sue Word, and his father, William “Mike” Word.

He is survived by his daughter, Amber Word (Connor Pagans); granddaughter Emerson and grandson Jax; brother Mark Word (Susan); sisters Melissa Batson (Jerry) and Maggi Finley (Dustin); and numerous nieces and nephews.
