Preserve forever →Matthew "Matt" Harman
September 9, 1964— March 10, 2026
St. Albans, WV
Matthew J. Harman, 61, of St. Albans, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, surrounded by his loving family after a cardiac event.
A graduate of Nitro High School’s Class of 1982, Matt worked alongside his father, Danny, at Harman's Body Shop in St. Albans. Customers remember the familiar scent of paint and coffee that greeted them, along with Matt’s warm conversation and his habit of offering a pack of Skittles. He found joy in hunting, tinkering in his garage, and spending time at the family camp in Upshur County, where he roasted pigs on the Fourth of July, rode four-wheelers, and gathered around the fire to share stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Danny and Alice Harman, and his brothers, Cameron Harman and Marshall Cerullo. Matt is survived by his children, Danielle Hensley (Harvey) of St. Albans and Matthew Harman (Ty) of Hurricane, and their mother, Lorrie Harman of Nitro. He is also survived by his siblings, Gale Harman (Jodie) of Tornado and Jennifer Knapp of Savannah, Georgia. His greatest delight was his grandchildren—Addyson, Kolton, Larson, Lennox, and Link—whom he cherished deeply. He kept lists of projects to do with them around the house, watched movies together, and delighted in surprising them with candy and sweets, always ensuring they felt loved. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, his uncle Gareth Harman with whom he lived, and many loving aunts, cousins, and friends who became family.
Matt’s kind and steady presence touched everyone who knew him, and he will be remembered with great affection by all whose lives he brightened.
