Matthew D. Swanson

Matthew Swanson passed away on March 13, 2026. The youngest of four siblings, Matt was a beloved uncle who brought joy to his nieces and nephews through roughhousing, practical jokes, and constant encouragement to chase their dreams. He cherished every moment spent with his family.

Despite being paralyzed in a car accident at a young age, Matt faced his challenges with remarkable determination. He trained as a welder at the College of Lake County and used those skills to repair cars and bring his own creative projects to life.

Matt ultimately succumbed to complications from the injuries sustained in that early accident. He is survived by his brother Jim and his sisters Carla and Sarah.
