He was born January 2, 2007, in Canton, Illinois, to Chris Michael Draughan and Janice Mae Jepperson.Mason is survived by his loving parents, Chris and Janice of Bushnell, IL; his sister, Madison (Braden) Fonner of Groveland, IL; his brother, Myles Draughan of Bushnell, IL; his paternal grandparents, Cindy and Lester Ridle of Bushnell, IL; his maternal grandfather, Rob Jepperson of Rice Lake, WI; his paternal great-grandparents, Ronald and Lois McFadden of Macomb, IL; his aunt, Hallie (Alex Busby) Draughan of Jacksonville, IL; three uncles, Andy (Kristen) Draughan of Macomb, IL, Steven Miller of Fairview, IL, and Jason (Rovie) Jepperson of Eau Claire, WI; along with several cousins.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mike Draughan, and his maternal grandmother, Laura Jepperson.Mason was the biggest Kansas City Chiefs fan and was always ready to debate anyone who had something negative to say about his beloved team. More importantly, Mason was someone who always put others before himself, no matter the challenges he faced.At just nine years old, Mason saved $250 of his own money to buy his dog, Zoey-his constant companion and best friend. His love for his dogs was unmatched. During his final week-long stay in Iowa City, Mason told his nurse to bring his discharge papers because he needed to get home-he missed his dog, and he knew his dog missed him.Mason will be honored with a memorial dog park, location in Bushnell pending, a tribute fitting for someone whose love for animals ran so deep.Though Mason spent much of his life in a wheelchair, he truly lived life to the fullest. He was fortunate to spend every day by his mother's side, who cared for him with unmatched love and devotion. Together, they shared an extraordinary bond, and she gave him a life filled with love, strength, and unforgettable experiences.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Experience Assembly of God Church in Bushnell, IL. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.To honor Mason, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite athletic gear.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Mason Draughan Memorial Dog Park.
