Maryann Shepard Romas

Maryann Shepard Romas, affectionately known as “Mare,” was born and raised in Nutley, New Jersey. A proud graduate of Nutley High School, Class of 1965, she went on to attend Berkeley Secretarial School. She began her professional life in the secretarial pool at Hoffman-La Roche Pharmaceutical Company, where her dedication and hard work led her to advance to executive secretary and ultimately to manager at the company’s Belleville campus, completing a 29-year career there.

After leaving the corporate world, Maryann joined the Nutley Fire Department, an environment she cherished above all others. Her service continued a proud family legacy that began with her grandfather, John Frobose, and was carried forward by her father, Robert Shepard Sr., and her brother, Robert Shepard Jr.

Maryann is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; her son, Robert, and his wife, Melissa; her cherished grandson, Sonny; and her sister-in-law, Terry. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary (Frobose) Shepard, and her brother, Robert Shepard. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Nancy (Charles) Luxton and Elizabeth (Michael) Stoffers, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews, Katie, Nancy, Pamela, Bonnie, Jonathan, Zachary, and Rose.
