Fluehr III Funeral Home, Inc. - Richboro website to view the full obituary.Maryann McAndrew Keane, 80, was born on July 12, 1945, in New Haven, Connecticut, and passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, after a long illness, with her beloved dog, Maggie Mae, by her side.She was the daughter of the late Edward J. McAndrew and Margaret "Peg" McAndrew of Hamden, Connecticut. Maryann grew up in Hamden, attended local public schools, and graduated from Hamden High School in 1963.She continued her education at Notre Dame College of Ohio in Cleveland from 1964 to 1968, earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. She later received a Master's degree in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University.Maryann dedicated 32 years to the Waterbury Public Schools, serving from 1968 until her retirement in 2000. For 20 years she taught Special Education, a role she loved deeply and through which she became a passionate advocate for children with special needs. In 1988, she was appointed to coordinate and supervise professional development programs for faculty and staff across the district.While teaching, Maryann met and married Philip B. Keane of Waterbury, and together they welcomed their son, Brian P. Keane. The family lived in Cheshire, Connecticut, for 24 years. During that time, Maryann was active in Democratic politics in Cheshire and once ran as a candidate for the Board of Education. She also served as president of the St. Thomas Becket Church Ladies Altar Guild.Following her retirement in 2000, Maryann moved to Davenport, Florida, where she lived for 20 years. There she became a docent at the Orlando Museum of Art and eventually was responsible for the museum's gift shop.In 2020, she relocated to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family. She cherished the time spent with her son Brian, daughter-in-law Kerri, and especially her grandson, Jackson, who became the center of her world and brought her daily joy.Maryann loved gathering family and friends, hosting happy hours, decorating enthusiastically for every holiday, enjoying high tea, and generously spoiling those she loved. Her family-both immediate and extended-meant everything to her.Her legacy is defined by her boundless generosity and a welcoming spirit that embraced everyone she met. Even while facing the challenges of chronic illness, Maryann remained strong, independent, positive, and an inspiration to those around her.Maryann is survived by her loving son Brian (Kerri) Keane of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and her cherished grandson, Jackson Keane. She is also survived by her brother Richard (Martha) McAndrew of Bedford, Massachusetts; her sister Rosemary (Samuel) Nance of Goshen, Ohio; and many beloved nieces and nephews who knew her affectionately as Aunt Maryann. She was predeceased by her brother Edward (Ted) McAndrew Jr. of Davenport, Florida.A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Doylestown, Pennsylvania (www.stpaulsdoylestown.org).Read The Full Obituary
