June 24, 1947— March 9, 2026
Saginaw, TX
Mary Marcella Stuart, 78, of Saginaw, Texas, entered the presence of the Lord on March 9, 2026. Born on June 24, 1947, in Wheeling, Illinois, Mary spent her childhood in Marshfield, Wisconsin, where she developed a deep love for horses. She graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in Marshfield in 1966 and later from nursing school in Mendota, Wisconsin. While working as a traveling nurse, she met the love of her life, James Lee Stuart, in Glendale, Arizona. Mary and James shared fifty-seven years of marriage and raised two children together.
Mary devoted more than thirty years to nursing and also served as a teacher’s aide helping children with special needs in the Louisiana public school system. Though she was happiest at home, her home took many forms over the years as she lived in at least nine different states across the Midwest, the West Coast, and primarily the South. In each place she left behind treasured friendships and lives she had touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Diers, and her brother, Alphonse Diers Jr. She is survived by her two sisters, LaMalle Winkler and Valeria Quirt.
Mary is survived by her husband, James Stuart of Saginaw, Texas; her daughter, Lisa Davis, and son-in-law John of Keller, Texas; and her son, Shawn Stuart, and daughter-in-law Serena of Waxhaw, North Carolina. She was blessed with six grandchildren—Trenton Davis and wife Maegan, Phillip Davis and wife Maddie, Emily Stuart Langmeyer and husband Adam, Mason Davis and wife Amy, Katie Stuart Passons and husband Chandler, and Mary Ellen Stuart—as well as five great-grandchildren, Hudson and Anslie, Adalynn, Bexleigh, and baby Bowen, and Sophie, with one more on the way. Mary deeply cherished animals and will be remembered by her family for the warmth, dedication, and quiet strength she brought to every chapter of her life.
