Mary Marcella Porter

Mary Marcella Porter passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on January 22, 1953, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to James and Helen Porter, Mary grew up in her hometown and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She built a long career as an Administrative Assistant for the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union Local No. 21, where her dedication and quiet competence were greatly valued.

Mary found deep joy in the simple pleasures of cooking, gardening, and sewing, yet nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose love was expressed through her steady presence and thoughtful care for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James K. Porter and Helen Wallace Porter, and her sister, Sharon A. Porter Hutchinson.

Mary is survived by her sons, Adam Porter (Danielle) and Andrew Porter Breen (Judith); her sister, Pam Brasseaux; her brother, Jim Porter; and her cherished grandchildren, Margaret Breen, Oliver Breen, Bryson Porter, and Jaylin Porter.
