Mary Lynn Flowers

October 6, 1937 March 6, 2026

Amarillo, TX

Mary Lynn Flowers, 88, passed away on March 6, 2026, at her home in Amarillo, surrounded by her family.

Born on October 6, 1937, in Miami, Texas, to Alton Alford and Minty Glynus (Trew) Gill, Mary Lynn graduated from Miami High School in 1956. She married Eldon Lawson Flowers on April 10, 1955, at the First Baptist Church. The couple made their home on the Flowers Ranch northwest of Miami, where their two children, Donna Kim and Mitchell Kirk, were born. After Eldon’s death in 1982, Mary Lynn continued to operate the ranch alongside her children.

A woman of many interests, Mary Lynn was an avid reader from childhood. She studied at Amarillo College and worked for several years as a photographer, with her images appearing in the second edition of the Roberts County History Book in 1987. She raised and cared for animals, traveled with family and friends, tended beautiful gardens, prepared cherished meals, hosted gatherings, and created exquisite quilts. She enjoyed playing and watching basketball, bowling, and golf. After moving to Amarillo in 1998, she embraced an active retirement filled with Bible study at Hillside Christian Church and many lively bridge games with friends at the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association.

Mary Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; her parents; one sister, Eda Beth Keaton; and two brothers, Charles Gill and Jim Gill. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Flowers of Amarillo; son, Kirk Flowers of Canadian; granddaughter, Autumn Lynn Flowers of Amarillo; grandson, Heath Eldon Flowers and his wife Sarah of Arlington, Virginia; two great-grandsons, Andrew and Ari Flowers; three sisters, Jo Goen of Floydada, Kay Mayo of New Braunfels, and Jackie Gill of Cold Spring, New York; and one brother, Duane Gill of Aurora, Colorado.
