Mary Louise Carter, age 88, of Hominy, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa. Born on February 15, 1938, in Olive, Oklahoma, to Andy and Beulah (Hendricks) Johnson, she grew up in various places as her father worked in the oil fields. On her 18th birthday, February 15, 1956, she married Raymond Dean Carter in Hominy, where they made their home together.
Mary worked alongside her husband operating their filling station. After they sold the business, she began a 23-year career at 1st Bank of Hominy. She cherished time with her family and, together with Raymond, organized the annual Carter reunion for 30 years. She also enjoyed bowling and served as president of the ESA chapter in Hominy.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Raymond; their children, Bonnie Finch of Hominy, Belinda Shores of Tulsa, and Leslie Carter of Sperry; her brother, Sammy Johnson of Jennings, Oklahoma; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson David, and her siblings Martha, Margie, Betty Jane, Andy Jr., and Bob.
