Cheyenne, WY

Mary Lou (Weddle, Dunbar) Jackson, age 97, passed away February 26, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was the fifth of twelve children born to Cecil and Letha (Combs) Weddle on August 7, 1928.

Lou, as everyone called her, enjoyed gardening. Her greenhouse was always full of beautiful flowers and plants, along with a fishpond she built herself. She loved working in her wood shop, where her creativity allowed her to create wonderful handmade crafts. She wrote short stories for many years, and in the last few years added pictures and turned those stories into coloring books. She wrote a story about all the homes she lived in from birth to her final home at Pointe Frontier — a true insight into her long life. She loved sharing her talents with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Dunbar of Sheridan, Wyoming and Thomas Dunbar (Hilde) of Gainesville, Florida; step-daughter Kerry Jackson of Longmont, Colorado; sister Carolyn Ayers (Jack) of Newton, Iowa; brother Patrick Weddle of Warrenton, Oregon; her grandchildren — Brandi Dunbar Woods (Phil McIntosh), Christian Dunbar (Bethany), Courtney Dunbar Chiporo (Salvatore), Breanne Dunbar Englert (Ken), Brian Dunbar (Satsuki), Kristi Dunbar Andrews (Matt), Haley Dunbar Tufty (Chris), Halsey Dunbar Steen (Jeremy), and Gyhl Koeppen (Tonya); her great-grandchildren — Tyler Woods, Braden Woods, Bela Chiporo Barbero, Aidan Chiporo, Ethan Wendt, Arin Wendt, Krisanna Andrews Siegel, Dillon Andrews, Jayda Steen, Kori Koeppen, Tayton Koeppen, and Kylie Koeppen; her five great-great-grandchildren — Lylah, Mason, Lincoln, Kade, and Sawyer Woods; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Jerry Dunbar; infant son Charles Dunbar; her husband Richard Jackson; and her siblings — Jack, Melvin, Billie, Elliott, Paul, Robert, Doreen, Donna, and Linda.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A family gathering and cremation burial will be at a later date.
