Mary Leishman

Mary Leishman, age 83, of Canton, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on June 5, 1942, in Canton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Ross) Petitto. A 1960 graduate of Sandy Valley High School, Mary was a longtime member of the Little Country Church.

She shared 65 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Jerry Leishman, celebrating their anniversary on June 17. Mary was the beloved mother of Vanessa (Gene) Shortt and Vonda (Michael) Moore. She cherished her six grandchildren—Jessica (James) Broad, Troy (Danielle) Shortt, Ryan Moore, Nathan Moore, Natalie Moore, and Rachael (Shane) Gibson—and her eight great-grandchildren, Dakota, Bailey, Chase Broad, Elleiana, Savannah Shortt, Ava Moore, Emerson, and Beckam Gibson.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who volunteered at Mercy Medical for 17 years. She found joy in traveling, fashion, dancing, yoga, and Victorian home decor. Known as a friend to everyone she met, her greatest love was for Jesus. She leaves behind a family who will carry her gentle spirit and warm heart in their lives forever.
