Mary L. Nichols, 91, of Sulphur Springs passed away peacefully Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born on September 3, 1934, in New Castle to the late Delbert and Gertrude (Hughes) Hedrick.

Mary owned the Kwik Shop in New Castle from 1960 to 1965 and then was the co-owner of the Iron Kettle in Sulphur Spring from 1969 until 1999. She worked in the cafeteria at Shenandoah High School for 20 years. Mary loved crafting, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a faithful Member of Sulphur Springs Christian Church and was dearly loved by her church family. She Volunteered at the Henry County Historical Society which she truly enjoyed.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Thompson, Randy (Debbie) Nichols and Bruce (Kathy) Nichols; 9 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Melvin Hedrick, Diana Selmyer and Gloria Redmon; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her Husband, Clarence “Nick” Nichols; 5 brothers and 4 sisters; 2 grandchildren.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Glen Oaks and all the staff that took care of Mary during her stay.

Services will be on Saturday March 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Sulphur Springs Christian Church with Pastor CJ Buskirk officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown.
