Mary K. Winiesdorffer

March 10, 1948 March 14, 2026

Wheeling, WV

Mary K. Winiesdorffer, 78, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 14, 2026, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, with her devoted husband of 55 years at her side. Born on March 10, 1948, in Wheeling, she was the daughter of the late Stephen J. and Bernadine D. Malarskey. Her life was centered on her family, her few close friends, and the many interests she quietly cultivated over the years.

Before her marriage, Mary worked as a telephone operator for C & P Telephone. After marrying the love of her life, she devoted herself to her home and family as a homemaker. Her home became a reflection of her talents, knowledge, and warmth. She was an accomplished painter and a gifted artisan, skilled in sewing, knitting, crochet, and many other handmade crafts. Mary possessed a remarkable understanding of antiques, birds, flowers, and plants, both cultivated and wild. There was no bird she could not identify, no flower she could not coax into bloom, and no struggling plant she could not revive through patience and intuition.

In the kitchen she was equally capable, known for patiently helping a dear friend navigate intricate cookie recipes. She enjoyed sharing what she knew, offering advice and encouragement when asked, never seeking recognition for her mastery. Although dementia gradually dimmed her memories and abilities in her later years, it never erased the love she held for her husband and her daughter, which remained with her until the end.

Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, a loyal friend, and a woman known for her kindness, her talents, and the care she extended to others. She is survived by her beloved husband, T. L. Winiesdorffer; her daughter, Michelle (Joe) Schirripa, of Wheeling; her brother, Steve Malarskey and his wife Dianna Sinovic, of Pipersville, Pennsylvania; her grandson, James Chancelor Schirripa; her nephew, Gabriel R. Malarskey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and a few good friends.
