Mary Jo O'Dell

Mary Jo O'Dell, 70, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on March 10, 2026 at her home. Born on July 2, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan to Leslie and Hazel (Driskill) Smith, she grew up with a warmth and openness that defined her throughout her life.

Mary Jo was a deeply social person who found joy in simple, meaningful connections. She loved long phone conversations, sharing lunches with friends, and spending unhurried time visiting with those she cared about. Above all, she cherished the moments she spent with her grandchildren, who brought her great happiness.

She is survived by her mother, Hazel Smith; her son, Brandon O'Dell (Brandi); her daughter, Shanna Rodgers (Scott); seven grandchildren, Trevor Freeman, Callie Barnette, Gavin O'Dell, Blake Robinson, Bryce Robinson, Ethan Barnette, and Isaak O'Dell; three great-grandchildren, Grayson O'Dell, Kensley O'Dell, and Stetson Foley; her nephew, Chad Mann; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Smith; her sister, Debbie Echols; and her niece, Suzanne King.
