Mary was born March 27, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to parents George and Calliope Spanos. Growing up, Mary and her parents were part of a lively Greek community in Detroit. As a young woman, she was interested in fashion and was a music enthusiast, collecting an array of music records. In her early twenties, she attended secretarial school. Mary moved to Reno with her mother in the late 1970s to be near family after the passing of her father. In Reno, she became part of the community of St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church for many years. She had a long career in administration where she was a valued member of The Hartford team and made many lifelong friends there. Mary was a voracious reader, a movie buff, loved music and dancing, enjoyed time in the sun, and relished a quiet life. Mary was preceded in death by her father, mother, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
