Mary Jane J. Werkley

Mary Jane J. Werkley, 75, of North Coventry, passed away at her home on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late John L. Werkley, III.

Born in Philadelphia to Eugene and Mary Pondo (Zygmont), Mary Jane graduated from Roxborough High School in 1968. She went on to earn an associate degree in nursing from Delaware County Community College and spent many years working in the newborn nursery on the maternity floor at Pottstown Hospital. She found great joy in simple pleasures—walking the beach and collecting shells, baking, tending her garden, playing cards and board games, and most of all, sharing time with those she loved. A longtime parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Pottstown, she gave generously of her time as a volunteer, sang with the church choir for many years, and found deep fulfillment in her faith.

She is survived by her children, John L. Werkley IV, fiancé of Susan Temple, Jeffrey Werkley, husband of Denise Werkley, and Jennifer Alicea Werkley; her grandchildren, Robert McGee, John L. Werkley V, Jacob Alicea, Tyler Werkley, Maria Alicea, Noah Werkley, and Jamie Werkley; her sister, Barbara Kleinguenther; and a large extended family that included eight godchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene Pondo and Kenneth Pondo, and her sister, Karen Clarke.
