She was a woman of warmth, grace, and an open heart that welcomed everyone who crossed her path.Mary attended W.B. Doby High School in Wetumpka, Alabama where she was crowned Homecoming Queen - a fitting honor for a young woman whose radiance and spirit were impossible to overlook. From Alabama, she headed from the south to Boston, MA where she worked and raised her family.She was a devoted sister to Pauline Smith, Ophelia Odubiyi, Annie Gilbert, Judy Hill, Albert Young, and Willie Young, and a cherishing mother to Kenneth Frierson, Carolyn Frierson, and Eddie Frierson, as well as Deandre Gilbert, Erica Gilbert, and Anthony Gilbert. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Rayven Frierson, Ethan Smith- Frierson, Eva Smith-Frierson, Mikelse J. Burns, Brave J. Burns, Noel Elvin-Deandre Boston, Javis Brandon Miller, Kenneth Frierson Jr., and Glory Victoria Frierson.Mary had a gift in the kitchen. Her cooking and desserts were legendary, and her home was a place where family always gathered, laughed, and felt at ease. She was the kind of woman who gave endlessly and loved unconditionally. - her natural maternal spirit touching every life she encountered. To those closest to her, she was simply known as "Big Momma," a name that perfectly captured the nurturing heart she carried every day of her life.She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, siblings, and the many friends and people whose lives she touched.Rest in peace.
