Mary Frances Marotta

1937 — 2026

Lynnfield, MA

Mary Frances Marotta, born in Arlington, Massachusetts on November 14, 1937, passed away at her home in Lynnfield on March 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (O’Connor) Wall, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life centered on her faith, her family, and her deep connection to her Irish heritage.

Raised in Arlington alongside her brother Stephen and sister Eileen, Mary graduated from Arlington High School and formed friendships that remained important to her throughout her life. In 1961 she married Salvatore Marotta at Saint James Church, and together they built a home in Lynnfield where they raised their children. She was a constant, active presence in their lives, serving as a Girl Scout leader and faithfully attending countless hockey games, soccer matches, and track meets. She took great pride in her family and in the life she and her husband created together.

Mary held a special affection for the beach and for Chatham, where she created many cherished memories with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, visits to the Candy Manor, and quiet afternoons at “Broken Beach.” As her family grew, she found particular joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, offering them unwavering love and taking deep pride in their accomplishments.

She is survived by her children, James Marotta and his wife Connie of Rome, Maine (formerly Sudbury), Margaret Marotta of Lynnfield, and Thomas Marotta of Lynnfield; her adored grandchildren, Matthew Smith and his wife Michelle, Cassandra Tewksbury and her husband Griffin, Nate Marotta, and Benjamin Marotta; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey Smith and Graham Tewksbury. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Wall of Pompano Beach, Florida, as well as a large and loving extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who brought her lasting joy. She was predeceased by her sister Eileen Hood and brother-in-law Burt Hood.
